2 year anniversary with BMSRadio.com :)

Today is a proud day for me. I can still remember my very 1st post like it was yesterday, but here it is for those who haven’t been able to keep up with all of my blogs:

A lot of you are wondering how i even got to become a sports writer to begin with. Well i know this is going to shock ya’ll, but i got discovered right here on Myspace! During the 2005-06 Bulls/Heat 1st round series, i was posting bulletins with my game recaps & this dude named DJ Special Blend noticed one of them. I can’t even remember if he was on my friends list at the time, but something that i wrote definitely caught his attention.

He e-mailed me explaning that he has a new website that should be up in a few months & asked me if i wanted to be his sports writer for the site. Of course i accepted it!!! As the first couple of weeks went by, i just tried to create a schedule on which days that i’ll blog so that i don’t have any big time gaps & stuck with it. I also noticed the cool feedback & “pings” that i got, which means that people from around the world were really enjoying my stuff which i truly do appreciate. I like to add pictures to my blogs so that my readers can get a “feel” of a particular sporting event. Of course, i found out to add a disclaimer to the bottom of EVERY post so no lawsuits come towards my way!

Still remember my first ever podcast with BMS Radio. It was on the 2006 NBA Finals & i can laugh about this now, because i must’ve talked non-stop for almost 10 minutes before saying “Heat in 6″. When i first listened to myself talk online, i found out that over half of my material was edited BUT it also taught me to get my information in a lot quicker.

For the first couple of podcast episodes, i used notes. I remember a podcast right when Terrell Owens made a reported suicide attempt. When breaking news like this happens, i try my best to get it on podcast the day of the actual event.

But after that, i started to do my podcasts off the top of my head. Before going on-air, i would simply just cue up internet links to the topics that i wanted to discuss & just let it flow when it was my turn to talk. I have done 437 blogs over the past 2 years, so nearly 60% of that timeframe has been a successful one. I hope to touch on more sports such as boxing, tennis & golf. The average fan like myself could be strictly into football, basketball & baseball, but i know there’s times where we tune into other sports & draw interest to them.

I am always giving thanks to the man that discovered me, Mr. DJ Special Blend. He puts in countless hours on the site & his Mixshows/U-Hype episodes. He is the true force behind this & without him, there is no BMSRadio.com. We have been a great twosome & have even got to chill a couple of times at some events that help promote the website. He constanly refers to me as “The Lieutant” or “The Go-to Guy”, so it’s obvious that we have built a great deal of respect for each-other over the past 2 years. We could always use extra help on the site, so if there’s anyone out there that is interested in blogging, get at me!!

I’m also excited for BMSRadio.com’s future. My next Chicago Sports’ Junkies show with my partner Phil will be done over the phone & i’ll be able to have it online via podcasts. Also working on getting some good quality headphones with a mic so that i can record each show from home. I’ve never imagined in my wildest dreams that i would get to host a show talking about what i love the most…and that’s sports! You can check out the transcripts of our 1st two shows here:

I know that a lot of people have a different “hustle” outside of their regular 9-5 FT jobs….well this is my “hustle”. I want to continue to better myself & interest my readers for years to come, so if there’s anything different or new that you would like to see on the site, let me know!

Well, like i used to say in my earlier days…That’s a wrap! I don’t know if i am going to celebrate this today, as i have several upcoming events this month that i’m definitely looking forward to.

I would like to thank everyone for their continued support. You, the reader is the reason why i have so much fun blogging in the 1st place.
