Historic day for Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson!!!

When Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson ran for 224 yards on October 14th against Chicago, many people wondered if the rookie phenom could top his outstanding effort.

Peterson simply re-wrote the history books on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis while playing in just his 8th career NFL game against San Diego.

In a marquee matchup against Chargers RB & 2006 League MVP LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson put on 1 of the best performances in NFL history with 296 yards rushing against San Diego’s 7th ranked run defense.

His final touchdown run of 46 yards in the 4th quarter outtotaled San Diego’s entire rushing yardage AS A TEAM! (42 yards)

Peterson is now the 1st rookie ever in league history to record two 200 yard games in the same season & is the first running back to reach 1,000 yards this season.

Just in case you’re wondering, the last rookie to lead the league in rushing is Edgerrin James, who rushed for 1,553 yards in 1999. It’s obvious that Peterson will break James’ record, barring a serious injury for the rest of the season.

Peterson (129.5 rushing yards per game) is now on pace for 2,072 yards, which would put him among an elite class of 2,000 yard rushers that includes Eric Dickerson, Jamal Lewis, Terrell Davis, Barry Sanders & O.J. Simpson.

After today’s incredible performance, i guarantee you that Adrian Peterson will be a top 5 fantasy back for 2008. The scary part is that his career is just beginning.
