Texans head coach Gary Kubiak on the team’s first ever 2-0 start:

“We’re doing some things better, and we’ve still doing a lot of things that we’ve got to improve on to be a good football team. It’s just one of 16, and I’m proud of our football team to come here on the road and win. And we get to play the world champs next week.”

Browns WR Braylon Edwards on Cleveland “stunning” Cincinnati with a 51 point outburst:

“I’m excited about this win. For the first time in a long time I’m excited to go home and watch our highlights.”

Star Player of the Game: Jaguars QB David Garrard, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 272 yards, 1 touchdown & no interceptions. (117.4 QB Rating)

Falcons QB Joey Harrington on his team scoring just 10 points in the first 2 games:

“We all need to play better. It’s not a sack issue, an O-line issue, a receiver issue. It’s everybody’s issue. We’ve got to play better. And we’ve got to play better at the right times. It’s obviously frustrating, but one play does not win or lose a ball game.”

Star Player of the Game: Packers QB Brett Favre, who completed 29 of 38 passes for 286 yards, 3 touchdowns & 1 interception.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin on his team giving up 80 points defensively in the first 2 games:

“I think we are a better football team than we have shown. Obviously I don’t have any real grounds for saying that, it is just a belief. I do believe we are all in it together and I do believe we are all embarrassed.”

Bills S Jim Leonhard on the team’s focus following an emotional week centered around injured teammate Kevin Everett:

“Everyone had their hearts filled with love for Kevin — we just have to go out and play better than we did. We played real hard that first half, we didn’t give up touchdowns. But you have to get off the field on third downs or that starts to wear on you.”

“I’m very surprised. We really need to take a deep look at ourselves, identify the problems and figure out how to fix it.”

“I think we have the ability to be a very good offense. One of the best, if not the best, in the league. Unfortunately we’re not playing like it right now.”

“This offseason, I probably hit that ball 500 times, so I felt pretty confident going out there,” Rackers said. “It’s a big weight lifted off my shoulders.”

Williams on Lions QB Jon Kitna, who returned from a concussion to lead the team on the game-winning drive in overtime:

“I don’t think he knew where he was. He might’ve thought he was back at Central Washington (Kitna’s alma mater), but he led this team to a victory.”

Star Player of the Game: Cowboys RB Marion Barber III, who rushed 14 times for 89 yards & scored 2 touchdowns.

Cowboys WR Terrell Owens on his touchdown celebration that included a mocking of the current spy scandal on Bill Belichick:

“It was all in good fun. I hope they don’t give me a hefty fine like they gave Belichick.”

Star Player of the Game: Ravens RB Willis McGahee, who rushed 26 times for 97 yards & added 2 receptions for 6 yards & 1 touchdown.

Ravens QB Kyle Boller on starting Sunday for the first time since 2005:

“I think we did good things: I moved the ball, got some points on the board. I’ve got to give a lot of credit to my offensive line. I don’t think I got hit one time. They did a great job up front, (allowing) me to step into my throws. That was huge.”

Star Player of the Game: Bears RB Cedric Benson, who rushed 24 times for 101 yards.

Bears WR Devin Hester on his first touchdown return of the season:

“If there’s not one returner who every time he touches the ball feels he can take it the distance, he doesn’t need to be out there. I feel every time I get my hands on the ball it’s a touchdown.”

Star Player of the Game: Broncos RB Travis Henry, who rushed 26 times for 128 yards.

 

Broncos S John Lynch on the last-second timeout call before Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski’s potential 52 yard game-winning field goal attempt in overtime: (Janikonwski later missed his 2nd attempt from the same spot.)

“When you take it down to a millimeter of a second, that works pretty good. Mike’s timing was unbelievable. I was standing next to him when he told the referee, ‘We’re going to call a timeout.’ But then I’m saying, ‘All right, do it! Do it!’ And he did, I think with 2 seconds, and the guy blew his whistle.”

Chargers FB Lorenzo Neal on his team’s blowout loss:

“They just jumped on us like a spider monkey. I don’t care how you look at it, they just played better than us.”

Star Player of the Game: Redskins WR Santana Moss, who caught 6 receptions for 89 yards.

Redskins QB Jason Campbell on the team’s balanced play-calling:

“In the NFL, you can’t be one-dimensional, you’ve got to be able to do both things, you’ve got to be able to run and pass. I thought our guys did an outstanding job once we got our rhythm. I thought our guys did an outstanding job picking up the big plays.”

Stud of the week goes to Tiger Woods, who won the 2007 Tour Championship by 8 strokes over runner-up & Masters champion Zach Johnson.

Want to know why Woods will most likely end his career as the best golfer ever? He’s 41-3 when holding the lead entering the final round of play during PGA events.

Dud of the week goes to O.J. Simpson, who was arrested & later released on $125,000 bail after apparently being involved in a armed robbery of his own sports memorabilia in Las Vegas.

Simpson was convicted on multiple felony chargers during his arrest which include burglary with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon & coercion.

If convicted of all charges, Simpson could face up to 60 years in prison.

One quick note before signing off: Former Bears DT Tank Johnson has signed a 2 year deal with the Dallas Cowboys & will be eligible to play in his 1st game on November 11th against the N.Y. Giants.
