Congratulations to Gregg Popovich & the San Antonio Spurs, who will appear in the NBA Finals for the fourth time over the past five seasons.
Tim Duncan & the Spurs will be looking to capture a 4th NBA title after defeating the Knicks in ‘99, Nets in ‘03 & the Pistons in ‘05.
Â
San Antonio will either face Detroit (2-0 during regular season) or Cleveland (0-2 during regular season) in the 2007 NBA Finals, which will begin next Thursday from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX.
For the Utah Jazz, a surprising playoff run comes to an end tonight.
Â
It was an impressive run that saw them outlast Houston in a tough 7 game series before dispatching Golden State in 5 games to get here.
Despite their season-ending loss tonight, Deron Williams had a sensational playoff run & has really emerged as one of the league’s up & coming guards to watch.
Williams averaged 25.8 PPG & 7.8 APG during the Western Conference Finals, showing a lot of poise & confidence for a player who just completed his 2nd season in the NBA.
Utah was attempting to reach the NBA Finals for the 1st time since ‘98, when they lost in 6 games to the Chicago Bulls.
And before i sign off, what in the hell is wrong with Kobe Bryant?
This morning on ESPN Radio in New York, Kobe told Stephen A. Smith that “he wanted a trade from L.A”, but later on in the afternoon, he tells KLAC in Los Angeles that “i don’t want to go anywhere, this is my team.”
Â
I know that Bryant is frustrated that the Lakers’ front office of Jerry Buss & Mitch Kupchak aren’t doing their jobs to build a competitive team around him, but it’s also Kobe’s job to make everyone on his team better.
Michael Jordan had to rely on Steve Kerr to clinch championship #5 for the Bulls with a game-winning jumpshot. It’s all about the trust factor.
Ironically enough, Bryant’s 2 lowest scoring averages for his career are against the 2 teams that are participating in the Eastern Conference Finals. (21.8 PPG against Cleveland & 21.5 PPG against Detroit).
Until then,
