Fantasy Football Analysis of “Mattie T’s Soldiers”

Aight ya’ll,

I am participating in the BMS Radio Fantasy Football league this year over at Yahoo. This is the first time i will be playing in a money league, with a $500 prize on the list (this is a touchdown-heavy league!) for the manager that can take his team all the way to the championship game & win it.

So with that being said, here is my roster.

QB

Carson Palmer, Cincinnati (led all QB’s with 32 touchdown passes in ‘05 & #1 in fantasy points among QB’s)

Jake Delhomme, Carolina (88.1 QB rating is career-high for starting all 16 games in ‘05 & #8 in fantasy points among QB’s)

WR

Chris Chambers, Miami (Has scored double-digits in TD’s in 2 out of 3 yrs in NFL, posted career-high of 1,118 yards last season & #6 in fantasy points among WR’s)

Kevin Curtis, St, Louis (Topped 800 yards receiving in ‘05 & caught 6 touchdowns, both career-highs, could steal some catches away from Isaac Bruce)

Doug Gabriel, New England (Receptions, Yards & Touchdowns have increased all 3 seasons since he joined NFL in ‘03, should be Tom Brady’s #1 target if Deion Branch sits out ‘06 season)

Jerry Porter, Oakland (On verge for first career 1,000 yd season, should benefit from Moss doubleteams)

RB

Tiki Barber, N.Y. Giants (Rushed for career-high 1,860 yards in ‘05 and only fumbled once & #6 in fantasy points among RB’s)

Thomas Jones, Chicago (First Bear since Walter Payton to rush for 1,300 yds or more, 9 touchdowns is a career-high & #10 in fantasy points among RB’s)

Kevan Barlow, N.Y. Jets (Rushing yardage has decreased each of last 3 seasons, trade to New York should give him fresh start)

TE

Todd Heap, Baltimore (855 receiving yards & 7 touchdowns in ‘05, both career highs & #3 in fantasy points among TE’s)

Heath Miller, Pittsburgh (Caught 6 TD’s in 05 & #6 in fantasy points among TE’s)

K

Matt Stover, Baltimore (Has converted 30 or more FG’s in 4 of last 6 seasons & #9 in fantasy points among K’s)

Olindo Mare, Miami (Finished a perfect 6-6 in 40-49 yd FG’s in 05, career-high)

Defense

Jacksonville (#6 in points allowed, #6 in total yards allowed, #7 against the pass, #8th in interceptions, & 4th in sacks & #8 in fantasy points among DEF)

Tampa Bay (#8 in points allowed, #1 in total yards allowed, #6 against the run, #6 against the pass, tied for 10th in fantasy points among DEF)
