This is DJ Special Blend from Chicago. What’s up America and the world! I missed you! Have gotten the chance to learn a little CSS and Wordpress, so we welcome you to the new BMSRadio.com. Feel free to post the feed from the countdown on your site in it’s entirety if you like. Lemme know and we’ll send some more traffic your way! The BET awards were last week, and I’m jockin’ Busta-Bust as the best performance this year out of a cast that was filled with mad heavy hitters as always. Last week’s number one song was Mary J. Blige with “Enough Cryin’” and she has held it down for… ever. Let’s check out this week’s chart and see if she can hold on for yet another week as we do it a little somethin’ like this…
Songs 11-40 here.

Kelis creeps into the top 10 this week with her latest cut “Bossy.” I have to admit that I’m still waiting on this one to grow on me, cause it hasn’t as of yet. I’m obviously in the minority and we can see that by her being in at number ten. I gotta get a chance to really listen to this cut. I remember wanting to have sex with her before, but she has a different look going on nowadays. I’ll try to flip past MTV Jams more often this week so I can see what the deal is with this song. I do know one thing though… this song ain’t no punk, if for no other reason, but because my boy Too short is on it. Still rockin’ the simple rhymes we all love, with the “old-cat-grey” strands on his face. Maybe the song will have grown on me by next week. First week in the top ten or this one.

Up one spot this week is the mixtape-man Rick Ross featuring Jay Z and Young Jeezy with what is becoming a hot-to-death cut. “Hustlin’” is yet another example of how the Dirty South is all over the place. “Everyday I’m hustlin’… everyday I’m hustlin’” is a hook that is stuck in all of our heads. I think CNN reported a couple peeps caught whiplash from this song, but don’t quote me on that. I like that ghetto music. Don’t you? Rick Ross is at number nine.

Okay, its four of these young ladies and they all look the same than a mug. I caught them on BET the other day, and I couldn’t even decide which one of them I wanted to bone cause they were cutting back and forward between them fast as I don’t know what… and they all looked he same. Not ugly at all… just the same. Cherish are the ladies we are discussing and their cut is called, “Do It To It.” Now what song does this sound the most like? There are several choices, but I think it sounds most like “Okay.” Y’all already know. Not tryin’ to take anything away from these young sisters doin’ it though. They all up in the top 10 like they belong there. Very interested in seeing how this group comes along in the future.

Jamie Foxx is in all familiar grounds again. He is at number seven this time with his latest jam, “DJ Play A Love Song.” Yea, he won an Oscar. We’ve all heard it a thousand times, but you really can’t take anything away from the brotha. He deserves to get all that comes with it, so make the number of times you have heard somebody say this total a thousand and one… he won an Oscar. He also got to go on stage a couple times at the BET Awards with Kanye to the… thanks to “Goldigger.” Now his current release is up to number seven and it features my boy Twista. Glad the original fast talkin’, “tongue twista” built negro is getting his P’s as well.

Field Mob featuring Ciara gets the nod this week at number six with their little cut called “So What.” This is somethin’ like teeny-bop music from the hood 2006 or somethin’. Really though. It has the B96 beat and the jingle-jangle hook Ciara sings is cute and catchy. It’s like this song could’ve been a song on the soundtrack for Dr. Doolittle, or like it should be a hit on Disney Radio and what not. Ain’t nuthin’ wrong with that and I think that that is the look they are goin’ for. It has all the ingredients to give Field Mob a pop hit. Get y’all money on yo! “So What” is at number six.

Our number five song this week is the current song that’s a hit with the kids but the grown folks frown about it. “Shoulder Lean” reminds me of “Laffy Taffy” like it ain’t nobody’s business, and there are a couple more of these “Laffay Taffy” type songs out there but I won’t go through the list this time. Lately I’ve seen a few MC’s spit and diss this sound along the way. I ain’t tryin to diss, but I am indeed classifying (hood-diplomacy at it’s best). Young Dro featuring T.I. are the artist. You know, T.I. ain’t no punk right about now. He’s like the man from the Dirty-Dirty and has established himself as a major recording artist like Luda, thats threatening to get up there with Scarface. No disrespect to Face or Luda, but a compliment to T.I. Young Dro is in at number five this week.

Kanye to the… lands at number four this week with the Midwest hood-smash “Impossible.” This former number one cut is the theme song to the latest Mission Impossible movie… right? I think so, but as always I’ll let you know fo-sho next week. Meanwhile, we gotta mention Twista’s name again for being on another song in the top 10. In fact, this is all from the same camp if you will and it gives us a chance to mention Keyshia Cole’s name again. Yes, yes. She brings a lotta traffic through from the search engines… her and my boy Keezo Kane. You already know. Kanye gave big-ups to Busta at the BET awards the other day for his performance. I gotta agree that Busta stole the show this time with the all-star cast poppin’ outta cars, out the audience, and outta the stage. Meanwhile, Kanye to the… is in at number four this week.

Mary has spent more time at number one than any other artist so far this year. She finally ducks outta there this trip with “Enough Cryin’” after dominating the top spot for… ever. She did similar stuff with her first release off this CD called “Be Without You.” Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last seven months or so, this CD supposed to be Mary’s well earned “Breakthrough.” I think she’s getting a little bit of the pie this time. As we have said many times before, she was the first “diva” to sing over a rap beat, and many have come along since and they made a lotta money. I guess her CD is doing alright, when the truth is that all the “diva’s” out there should have to pay a Hip-Hop Soul Tax on every dollar they make, and it go straight to Mary. Just my opinion yo.

Number two this week belongs to my boy T.I. who moves up another three spots to number two. “Why You Wanna” has grown on me right on schedule, even though they use a slowed down sample from a commercial dance hit from the 90’s. “La-da-dee la-di-da, la-da-dee la-di-da.” Y’all already know. I gotta give it to T.I. for representin’ the Dirty-South hoods though. Check this cut out on last week’s MixShow 72 episode. Up three more spaces is T.I. with “Why You Wanna.”
“Gettin’ Some” by Shawnna fell outta the top 10 this week. This song has hit the top ten twice, and it made it all the way to number one the first time around.

Young Joc gets the nod this week and sits atop this episode of DJ Special Blend’s Top 40. “Goin’ Down” is yet another cut from the Dirty South that is just all over the place. This style is what’s “in the now” if you will. Cain’t be mad though… cain’t be mad. As long as it’s hood! On the real though, hood Hip-Hop has it’s different styles and flavors that differs from region to city to neighborhood to block. Meanwhile back at the ranch, Young Joc has his first ever number one on this chart. Bad Boy …huh? All congrads due…
Another week, another chart. I feel like the theme from Welcome Back Kotter should be playin’ in the background right now or somethin’. The new set up is gonna work out to be hot-to-death. One can listen to any of the podcast in the background while they check out The BlogSquad! Got my boy Matt T. on sports, and my girls Kristiana Colon and Zoe are gonna drop some heat in the near future. We got the BMSRadio.com Launch Jam comin’ up on July 15 at the Sports Time Bar & Grill from 9pm-3am. Free admission y’all, so come on out and check out the show hosted by BET Comedian “D-Man” Seabrooks. A free night of spoken word, comedy, and performances from Chicago Hip-Hop artist to show our appreciation to the listeners and the readers. Meanwhile, I’ll check you out next week with the countdown… same time, same place. Yes, I missed it too. This is DJ Special Blend from Chicago. ‘Til next time, don’t bump into the turn tables!
