DJ Special Blend’s Top 40 week ending January 10, 2009

Jan 5th, 2009 | By DJ Special Blend from Chicago | Category: DJ Special Blend's Top 40

This is DJ Special Blend from Chicago. What’s up America and the World!  Kickin’ it live with another chart from the Hood as we are running down the top songs this week.  Gonna drop ten good ones on ya this time, and we are checking out videos courtesy of Youtube.com and shit.  First up, that lovely young lady who’s getting that close-up shot over to the left is Keri Hilson.  She’s getting some love this week on the chart and we’re gonna peep where she lands in a half of second.  Beyonce has held onto the number one spot for the last three weeks in a row, but there are a couple of hot tracks that are headed in the right direction and trying to take her spot.  Only one way to find out if “Single Ladies” will hold it down for the fourth week in a row, so let’s start it off a little something like this…

Number 10

And there she is… Keri Hilson kicks off the countdown this week at number ten with her jam “Turn Me On” featuring Lil’ Wayne.  This song is on the chart this week for one reason, and one reason only.  I browsed through my home girl’s My Space page, and this was the music she had up front and on top.  I just thought that it was cute than a mug, so I slammed it up in my top ten.  What’s good Sheena!  Keri Wilson is at number ten this week.

Number 9

Jamie Fox moves up one spot to number nine this week with his clever little jam called “Just Like Me.” I don’t care what anybody says, Jamie can blow and I tend to like the music he releases.  Good shit.  However, I dunno if I wanna woman just like my-ass though :)  Be sure to check out that video… it’s a nice little mash-up with “Just Like Me” and Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together.”

Number 8

Plies is holding steady at number eight this week with “Put It On Ya.” And that’s all I have to say about that.

Number 7

Keyshia Cole feature 2Pac is up to number eight this week.  How did 2Pac make this record and he’s dead?  He’s alive I tell you!  No, but on the real I 2Pac had alotta unheard material.  He actually has a new song that was released to DJ’s this week that features The Game, Dr, Dre and Snoop Dog.  That jam may eventually work its way up the chart, but for now Keyshia Cole is still doing her thing, and I still wanna freak her.  Yes, I wanna freak Keyshia Cole.

Number 6

Luda is at number six this week on DJ Special Blend’s Top 40… in spite of his song featuring T-Pain :)  I was trippin’ on how they’re gonna make a song that seemed to promote drunk driving, but after seeing the video we see that it’s a spoof or comedy act of some sort.  I guess that’s okay.  Number six this week is “One More Drink.”

Number 5

Kanye West is at number five this rip with “Heartless.” I still cain’t stop laughing at his ass trying to sing live on SNLFunny, funny, funny.  You gotta admit America, you may not like Kanye West but has done some shit that has entertained the fuck outta us.  Every time I see him snap after loosing on an awards show, I bust a gut.  Funny man, funny.

Number 4

This joint is hotJim Jones has has some straight up hood crankers, and this one is no different.  “Pop Champagne” is the latest to rip the streets, and if you are sitting down when this one comes on then you’ll be sitting down by yourself.

Number 3

Oh no, “B” has fallen from the number one spot“Single Ladies” lands at number three this week after being at number one for an impressive three weeks.  I actually am finally starting to like the song, and I once again want to have sex with Beyonce.  I liked her in Cadillac Records.  In fact, I liked that entire movie.  Learned allot as well.  This song has been in the top ten longer than any other song this week.

Number 2

Man, this is a jam.  That Jamie Fox man… I keep tryin’ to tell ya!  “She’s Got Her Own” is like the remix to “Miss Independent” I think.  Very nice idea for a song, plus this is another little jingle that females like to use as their theme song.  All that, with a nice melody to top it off.  Neyo is all the way up to number two.

Songs that bounced outta there this week:

  • Jazmine Sullivan fell outta the top ten with “Bust Your Windows.” How did that get in the top ten in the first place?  :)

remembering jett travolta. rest in peace

And now…

Number 1

Common works his way up the chart to get in a week at number one with the lead jam from his most recent CD, “Universal Mind Control.” Not alotta airplay where I’m from, but well recognized in the clubs due to the 120 bpm that the song has.  That commercial with Afrika Bambaataa ain’t hurting at all either.  All congrads due to Common

Add to favorites, listen in and slide thru next week!

I cain’t wait to see who’s on top next week.  The podcast are comin’ back… don’t worry.  ‘Bout to start posting some classic shows like the very first U-Hype episode, the chopped & screwed one which was the first completely chopped & screwed podcast ever posted ever, and Mattie T’s first episode.  Ya know, shit like that.  Gonna check out the Certified Dime Magazine event this Saturday.  Meanwhile, we’ll peep you out next week. Same time, same place.  This is DJ Special Blend from Chicago. ’til then, don’t bump into the turntables!
